The 2010 Colorado State Open

September 10 - 19

More than just a tennis tournament!

The Colorado State Open is a celebration of tennis

The Colorado State Open is one of the oldest and biggest tournaments in the country. First played in 1891, it boasts past champions such as former #1 in the world players Don Budge and Althea Gibson. Check-out the prestigious list of former Men's and Women's Champions. Today, with the prize money more than tripled from five years ago, players again are coming in from all over the country to compete, providing the Rocky Mountain Region excellent live tennis. In addition to providing great live tennis to watch, it's a great tournament to play in as well. Over 1200 players compete in over 60 different divisions each year. Plus, the event kicks-off with "Tennis for Kids" Day. This is a FREE day for kids to learn and play tennis, similar to how Arthur Ashe Kids Day kicks-off the US Open. Find your way to gates over this ten day event to feel the buzz and to have a great tennis experience. 2010 CSO Commercial

Who will be the 2010 Men's & Women's Open Champions?

There are lots of terrific players and matches to watch. Open level matches generally are played during the weekday evenings beginning on the first Monday and culminating with the finals on Sunday, September 19th. Draws will be posted September 8th. Tickets are available at the door. $3 for early rounds, $5 for later rounds, or $10 for an event pass. Free for kids under 12. All ticket proceeds benefit the "Tennis for Kids" Outreach program. Kids that are interested in selling tickets have a chance to win some great prizes. See the Tickets for Prizes flyer for more information. If watching live tennis while being served food and drinks is more your style, get your ticket to the Grey Goose VIP Party.  Also, if anyone is interested in helping to house out of town players, please send an email to eric@gatestenniscenter.info.

Tennis for Kids Day, September 11th, 9-11am

FREE day for kids to learn and play tennis!

Over 300 kids attended the inaugural "Tennis for Kids" Day event last year, and we are hoping to surpass that number this year. The morning can best be described as a "tennis carnival." The courts are set-up with colorful props, prizes, miniature nets, obstacle courses, etc. Off-court there is music, facepainting, a raffle to win prizes, and more. Organizations donating  their time for this event include the DU Men's tennis team, the METRO State Men's and Women's tennis teams, Special Olympics Colorado, Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation, Babolat, Wilson, Head, Prince, and others. We all share the common goal of introducing the game of tennis to kids by providing this fun free day and free tickets for the kids to return and enjoy the great live tennis. Please spread the word to any child you know. See Tennis for Kids Day flyer for additional information. If anyone is interested in volunteering please send an email to eric@gatestenniscenter.info.
